An action icon appears when you approach the driver's seat of vehicles that you can control.
To get into the vehicle, press the Action button while the icon is displayed. The controls change while you are driving a vehicle.

Action Type

  1. 1: Brake/reverse

    The vehicle will brake if moving forward, otherwise it will accelerate in reverse.

  2. 2: Attack/Call (Use radio)

    Attack with the vehicle's weapon if it has one.If the vehicle has no armament, hold the button to open the Call Menu, or tap to make a quick radio call.

  3. 3 Left stick: Steering

    Steer the vehicle left/right.

  4. 4 D-pad
    • : Switch to primary weapon
    • : Switch to secondary weapon
    • : Turn headlights on/off
    • : Turn NVGs on/off
  5. 5 View button: Pause

    Open the Pause Menu/show tips/iDroid help.

  6. 6 Menu button: iDroid

    Use the iDroid data device
    * The game does not pause while you use the iDroid.

  7. 7: Accelerator pedal

    Accelerate the vehicle forward. This will apply the brakes when driving in reverse.

  8. 8: Use binoculars/Change view

    Tap to switch perspectives. Hold down to use binoculars.(Switches to first-person view with some vehicles.)

    button: (In truck) Hide/Return upright
    Lean down in the cab to hide yourself when inside a truck.
    button: (Hold) Forced movement
    Press and hold to force your vehicle onward when it is stuck in impassable terrain.
    button: (Armored vehicle/Tank) CALL
    For vehicles equipped with weapons, hold this button to open the CALL menu, or press quickly to use the radio.
    button: Enter/Exit
    Get in/out of the vehicle.
